Charles Wright, Edge, Sr.
Wright was one of the most productive pass rushers in the SEC during the 2017 season. Athletic testing before the draft will be important for him. If he manages a decent 3-cone, I think he will come off the board at some point in the 3rd round. If he tests poorly, he may end up being more of a 4th-5th round prospect.
Potential Day 3 Prospects
Kyle Shurmer, QB, Sr.
Pat Shurmer’s son has made impressive strides each year since he reached Vanderbilt. He has an NFL arm and prototypical size. He needs to take another step forward to get himself into Day 2 consideration. His accuracy has improved from 43% as a freshman, to 54% as a sophomore, and then he reached 58% last season. I think Shurmer will definitely be drafted. I have him in the 4th or 5th round right now with a chance to go higher if he continues to show development in the fall.
Kalija Lipscomb, WR, Jr.
Lipscomb has impressive size and took a big leap forward as a sophomore. He figures to be Kyle Shurmer’s favorite target this year. He’ll be matched up against Deandre Baker and one of Florida’s young stars in consecutive weeks (10/6 & 10/13) and those matchups will go a long way toward determining his draft stock. Lipscomb and Shurmer are two of the most intriguing prospects in the SEC, in my opinion, because they both look like mid-rounders who could easily get themselves into Day 2 with strong seasons.
Bruno Reagan, C-OG, Sr.
Reagan will be in an NFL camp next summer as a backup center who can also play right guard. He has a chance to be a late round selection, but it’s more likely he will become a priority free agent.
Future Prospects
Javan Rice, K-P, Fr.
Rice is a highly regarded dual-specialist. He probably won’t have a role this season, but he will eventually be the team’s kicker and punter. Those types often get invitations to NFL camps because coaches like to have preseason alternatives for their specialists and being able to use 1 guy to fill both positions saves a spot on the 90-man roster.
