Potential Day 3 Prospects

Nick Westbrook, WR, Jr.

Westbrook starred as a sophomore and then tore his ACL in 2017. He has impressive size, but average athleticism. I don’t think he has the potential to get drafted anywhere higher than Day 3.

Marcelino Ball, FS, So.

Ball was a star during his true freshman season and then missed most of last year. He is a strong tackler and he makes a lot of plays in pass defense. 2018 could be a breakout year for him. I debated placing ahead of Westbrook as my current pick to be Indiana’s highest regarded 2019 prospect. He should land safely on Day 3 if he returns to his 2016 form.

Jonathan Crawford, SS-LB, Sr.

Crawford has good size and he is solid in run support. He also made some plays in pass defense last year with 8 balls knocked away and a pick. I really think he will get drafted if he has another good season. Right now, I’d call him a 6th or 7th round prospect.

Coy Cronk, OT, Jr.

Cronk has enjoyed 2 successful seasons to start his Indiana career. He will start at left tackle during the 2018 season and could develop into a future versatile backup at both tackle and guard in the NFL. I could easily see him being worth a selection in the later portion of Day 3 of the 2019 or 2020 NFL draft.

J-Shun Harris, RS, Sr.

Harris is technically a receiver. His chance at the NFL will be as a return specialist. He has been terrific in that area with 2 punt return touchdowns. As electric as he is in the return game, it’s almost impossible to find a scenario where he gets drafted. He’s only about 170 lbs and clearly isn’t an NFL receiver. He also has 3 ACL tears. I’m not a doctor, but I imagine he will be off every board in the league with a medical flag. Still, Harris should get signed as a priority free agent because he is one of the best pure return specialists in the nation.

Wes Martin, OG, Sr.

Martin will enter the draft as a 4-year starter at guard. He’ll have to make it as a priority free agent with the ability to back up either guard position.

Future Prospects

Morgan Ellison, RB, So.

I really like Ellison’s size and running ability. He has already shown he can contribute to the passing game and there’s a part of me that thinks he has a future as a Day 2 NFL draft choice. However, Ellison comes with major durability concerns. He was injured quite a bit during high school, got hurt again late last season, and then missed spring practice. Maybe this has just been a string of bad luck for the solidly built runner. We’ll find out over the course of the next 2 seasons and it will play a major role in determining his eventual draft stock.

Charles Campbell, K, Fr.

Griffin Oakes was one of the most accurate kickers in recent memory and I’m a little surprised he wasn’t drafted. Campbell has large shoes to fill, but he’s a top recruit and he’ll get a chance as a true freshman. He could prove to be a draftable prospect down the line.
